Mr. Marcell received his B.A. in History from the University of Nebraska in 2007, with a minor in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. He was awarded a scholarship and fellowship from the University of Chicago, and there attained his M.A. in the Social Sciences, in 2008. His Master's Thesis was entitled "The Enemy Within: Surviving the Second Siege of Vienna, 1683."

Marcell has published several essays to date, including "The Rape of Nanking: Still Salient in East Asian Politics," The Denial and Its Cost: Reflections on the Nanking Massacre 70 Years Ago and Beyond, (New York: Cozy House Publisher, 2008), and written for numerous websites and newsletters.

His primary research interests include the social history of violence, gender and warfare, medieval and early modern European history, and historical, cross-cultural interaction.

He supports his local historical society as both a member and volunteer.
